Ideas for gardening that your children will love

Ideas for Gardening – Gardening for happy children

The best place for the development of creativity and enterprise are the corners that the adults appreciate the most in the landscapes. Although these are also places that are full of dangers and unexpected situations, but in these places, the real human nature develops.

In such places children can study their connection with nature and find out who they really are.

Do you know the book by Richard Louv “The Last Child in the Forest?”. This work is based on the theory that children play less outside and are therefore less creative and self-confident. That’s why you can think more difficult outside the given framework and communicate well with other people. Other negative psychological characteristics have also been identified.

Children need unstructured playing in nature. You need activities in a free environment, which includes the spirit of the wild and freedom in their character.

Now, logically, you might be wondering: how can we create a healthy place for the development of our senses in the landscape?

1. Create a mystical appearance by creating an allusion to a particular ambience

Twists and turns, hidden paths, revealing avenues, corners covered by herbs. These are places that are meant for independent thinking and exploration. Where does this path lead? What is there beyond this limit? Where can I hide so that nobody can find me?

2. Create different textures and smells

The more color and variety, the more children are encouraged to create and examine relationships.

Plant lavender, mints and various leaves and a gigantic hyssop plant right at the corners of the paths so the kids can bump into them. Also put grass in between – both low and high. You should also choose small and large leaves.

Choose prickly flowers like Liatris and big sunflowers. Plant high and low flowers.

3. Create noise

Consider a bubbling fountain or a curling river. These will draw people into the garden and lead them outside of it. Who does not like watching the water and touching it? It is the basis of life.

Bring some frogs from the area and you have everything ready!

I read somewhere that the first situation in which we have had a sensual experience is determining for the future associations. So, if you have smelled fresh herbs in your parents’ garden on Sunday afternoon for the first time in your life, you will always associate this scent with the atmosphere of the time unconsciously.

The same applies to all sensory experiences. Think carefully what strong sensory experience you had in life!

4. Design a seat outdoors

The best place to sit in nature is in the grass, on the dirty ground. The second best place is at a cozy spot in the countryside. Place benches in secluded locations or those that offer a view into the distance.

Create a place that is good for self-reflection, where you like to write stories in your diary and relax by focusing on the present.

5. Add rocks

Who does not like to play with rocks? The corners can be as soft as skin or as sharp as teeth. Sand it and make a little garden art out of it.

Create fences

Build dry channels in the base to allow more water to enter the garden. Rocks are something fantastic!

6. Create the unexpected

Create unique facilities by using the art of vertical gardens. A wonderful example of this can be seen in the picture here. No matter where you hide surprises in the landscape, you create the conditions for the fact that high expectations arise and fixed terms are critically questioned. I think every landscape designer will appreciate such a situation.

7. Welcome wildlife!

All the measures described above will help make wildlife feel welcome in this setting. The rocks, the water, the secluded and surprising places as well as the abundant garden design with various plants and special flowers contribute to this.

By choosing local flower and plant species you will also promote the proper functioning of the food chains for birds and insects. Avoid spraying chemicals and pesticides. This protects both you and your children, as well as wildlife life.

In our interior we mostly want to be where our children like to be. I mean the forest and not the carefully designed avenues and lawn areas. There we can connect with our original nature and forget the social norms.

Ideas for gardening – enjoy the beauty of nature

We are looking for a landscape of distances, intrigues and mysteries filled with elements that appeal to our five senses. So undiscovered pages of our own being can come into the world.

If you see nature with younger eyes, then you will create a healthier atmosphere for the little ones, which is also exciting for them.
